My heart just hurt after I wet the hair, you can see the bruising that has happened from the hair just pulling the skin for that year or more. Matts are tangled hair to an extent beyond brushing. For the Human, take your hair, get a comb, tease profusiously, wet the hair, dry the hair, tease again, repeat. And then let me know if it is pulling your scalp, now wait a year. This bruising will hopefully go away. In meeting this dog you would have never known it was going through any pain. It was a calm polite pet. The bruises are real. Sadly, the bruises were from the dog doing nothing just standing there. Just aches my heart.
